Will WWE be able to sign ROH TV and World Champion Jay Lethal?, What hurdles do they face?
WWE is out to sign some new talents, and the man that they have taken fancy to is Jay Lethal. WWE officials are ‘very interested’ in signing top independent talents to contracts with Jay Lethal being courted, according to Daily Wrestling News. Lethal is the current Ring of Honor Television and World Champion, having captured the former in June this year.
He has been active on the independent scene for a while and also had a lengthy stint in TNA, famously doing a Randy Savage tribute act as Black Machismo and feuding with Ric Flair. It’s no surprise that WWE are interested in the 30-year-old, since he is great in the ring and undoubtedly has charisma. His ROH contract is set to expire soon and there is no guarantee that he will re-sign with them. And to top that, signing a top talent like Lethal would be a big win for the NXT brand.
However the only roadblock coming in WWE’s way is the man they are so high on. Lethal is said to be very happy with his position in ROH and how he’s booked. Lethal is making better money as ROH’s top guy than he would in NXT and it was noted that he’s probably not someone who would leave just for the sake of joining WWE.
Also Lethal has his share of concerns on how WWE might book him. With that said, WWE is interested in bringing on ROH’s top guy and they view him as a high-value signing.
