Worst romantic pairings in WWE history
WWE is essentially story telling and what is a good story without a little romance?
Many WWE superstars have been paired together with Divas and some couples have made their chemistry work, taking their individual careers to new heights. Edge and Lita developed new dimensions to their characters with their on screen (and off screen) romance during the mid 2000s.
Miss Elizabeth was an integral part of Randy Savage’s character.
But there have been a lot of on-screen couples that were utter failures – This list takes a look at the top 5.
#5 Billy Gunn and Torrie Wilson
Billy Gunn has been repackaged multiple times in the WWE – be it as the Smoking Gunns, as part of the successful New Age Outlaws and DX stables, as part of the seemingly gay couple in the Billy & Chuck tandem and much more. But his partnership with Torrie Wilson was as random as it could get.
Gunn who had also been known as Mr.Ass and Torrie was scripted to have developed an infatuation for each other over the fact that both of them had impressive backsides – Yup, that happened.
Torrie was immensely popular on her own and the idiotic angle did not help her in any way – it made even little sense when the duo entered into a rivalry which later became a partnership with Nidia and Jamie Noble, with the latter also vying for Torrie’s affections.
Gunn’s career sunk like the Titanic and Torrie would eventually move on to better things.
