Wrong person won, major errors throughout - 4 huge mistakes WWE made at Crown Jewel 2024

It was an interesting night in Saudi Arabia as WWE made history by crowning two Crown Jewel Champions for the first time. The show was much longer than many fans expected, with recent events having just five matches, and it seems that as has become traditional in the Middle-East shows, there were several botches.

Fans have been vocal about the issues throughout the show and the following list looks at just four of the biggest mistakes that the company made throughout the show.

#4. Was Liv Morgan the best choice for Women's Crown Jewel Champion?

Liv Morgan was able to defeat Nia Jax in a match that had a whole lot of interference. The WWE Women's World Champion needed Raquel Rodriguez, Dominik Mysterio, and even Tiffany Stratton to try to cash in for her to defeat Nia Jax.

Jax almost had the match won herself and got up to the top rope to deliver the Annihilator before she was knocked down, and then in the same way that Liv won the title in Saudi Arabia earlier this year, she was able to defeat Jax with the help of a Dominik Mysterio distraction.

#3. The referees made some bad calls all night

The referees' actions were questionable at Crown Jewel from the beginning. The Bloodline match saw a rake to the eyes in front of the official who didn't do anything about it, Roman Reigns was almost pinned by Solo Sikoa before the match's actual ending and Seth Rollins was able to win his match despite using the steel steps as a weapon.

Kevin Owens then attacked referees, as his match against Randy Orton failed to even get underway and it seemed that WWE really didn't want this match to happen at Crown Jewel.

#2. No major surprises or returns at WWE Crown Jewel

It was made clear before the show that The Rock and Goldberg were not in Saudi Arabia so they were not expected to be part of the event. There was a hope that there would be some swerve at some point in the show but it just all seemed to remain on the same level.

It seems that WWE wanted to focus on the Crown Jewel Championships and was unable to include outside interference since the big names they are using were booked in other places.

#1. The ending seemed to fall flat

The show kicked off with The Bloodline vs. Roman Reigns and The Usos and there was a swerve when Sami Zayn came out and seemingly was there to save Jey Uso. Because this turn happened so early, fans believed that something bigger was coming, but it didn't.

Liv Morgan also appeared to turn face when she was celebrating with Cody Rhodes and hugging Triple H which was completely out of character for her. Both women are heels so if Nia Jax picked up the win, it would have pretty much been the same scenario.
