10 Funniest backstage insults in WWE history

The Rock has been responsible for some of the funniest backstage segments

If pulled off right, backstage segments can do wonders. This was the motto of WWE throughout the Attitude Era. The period had its emphasis on segments and less concentration on wrestling.

The current PG era backstage segments that we see are heavy on advertisement and not on entertainment. It is only sad to realize that WWE ceased using backstage segments that make the fans laugh nowadays.

Despite this current forgettable state, the rich history of WWE has given us a lot of memorable segments to cherish. Some of these segments from the past are so good, that they could put a smile on Vladimir Putin’s face. With that said, here are some of the funniest backstage insult segments from WWE history.

Edge gets one over Kurt Angle

Before Edge became the Rated-R main event heel, he had a memorable mid-card run in SmackDown. At the same time, there was Kurt Angle. Angle’s entrance music was a phenomenon back then and everyone chanted along with it. WWE had the idea of incorporating this into a funny segment.

Edge gave Angle some pictures to enjoy. First, it looked natural. But as Angle went through those, fans started noticing the things that were written behind it. It was a classic case of Angle getting pranked. And the way in which Edge did it made the fans laugh out loud. Above all, this segment shows how good Angle was during such segments.

Eddie Guerrero does what he does best

Eddie Guerrero got over with the fans for his habit of stealing. Eddie had a lot of backstage segments where he pranked others and this was one of the best ones from the lot. The segment happened in the 2005 Royal Rumble. That year, WWE had backstage segments where superstars would pick their Royal Rumble entrance numbers.

Eddie and Ric came in to take their number at one point. Flair took the number and was dancing around in joy. Meanwhile, Eddie had a bad entrance number. Eddie, however, was not ready to keep the number he had and stole Flair’s number instead. Flair got his actual number afterwards. But the segment was a funny insult to Flair.
