Tonight's WWE 205 Live started off with a recap of last week's results, where the newcomer Mark Andrews and an unusually ferocious Drew Gulak progressed to Round two of the Cruiserweight Championship Tournament, after defeating Akira Tozawa and Tony Nese respectively.

The video package also discussed the scheduled matches for the night, with Mustafa Ali facing Gentleman Jack Gallagher and the newcomer to 205 Live, Buddy Murphy taking on Ariya Daivari for the two final spots in the 2nd Round of the Tournament.

The commentators talked about the coming matches for the night to start off the show. Ariya Daivari, in a backstage direct-to-camera promo, stated his intentions of progressing in the 205 Live Cruiserweight Championship Tournament. He also said that Buddy Murphy would not take that away from him.

Following that, a video of Murphy's weigh-in was shown while he made his entrance, where his weight was recorded at 200.9 Pounds.

Murphy started off strongly in the match, knocking down Ariya Daivari with Shoulder Blocks and followed it up with a Hurricanrana. Daivari took things to the ring apron where he slammed Murphy onto the apron with a reverse DDT, following which he sent him into the steel steps.

Daivari continued his assault on Murphy inside the ring, focusing on Murphy's back. Murphy was able to kick Daivari in the head to get some space followed by a dropkick from the middle rope.

He then kicked Daivari a couple of times, but the latter avoided a dive and went to the outside, and Murphy followed him with an over-the-top-rope dive, taking him out. He hit Daivari with a Double-Knee from the top rope for a near-fall.

Murphy hesitated, and Daivari gained the advantage, hitting Murphy with a Persian Lion Splash from the top rope, for a near fall, as Murphy kicked out much to Daivari's disbelief. He followed up with a Hammerlock Lariat for another incredible near-fall.

Murphy hit Daivari with fast strikes followed by a Pumphandle Backdrop for the win and advanced to the next round.

For next week's show, he said that Kalisto and Strong would face each other, and also, TJP would face Cedric Alexander.
