Can Cody Rhodes change the WWE landscape from outside it?

What’s the story?

Goldust is one of the true veterans of WWE - but he's also the brother of AEW Executive Vice President Cody Rhodes.

ours have been rife that Dustin may be very close to joining his brother with some saying he's one of several Superstars to have requested their WWE release - and now the legendary Superstar has opened up about how the promotion will affect WWE.

In case you didn’t know…

Goldust's wrestling career spans 30 years, a lot of which has been spent in WWE - but Rhodes also spent time in WCW and TNA. In WWE, though, the 49-year-old is a three-time Intercontinental Champion and nine-time Tag Team Champion, with three Tag Team title reigns, too.

The Texan-born Superstar comes from a family well respected in wrestling, from his father Dusty to himself and his brother Cody. While Cody left and took the world outside of WWE by storm, Goldust is still with the company - but has recently been sidelined due to a knee injury.

The heart of the matter

Speaking with Sports Illustrated, Goldust spoke about just how much he and his brother share regarding WWE and AEW - with the veteran saying he'll be keeping a close eye on the promotion.

Me and Cody talk a lot, and I was on a movie set for a horror film that I’m doing, and we were texting about that AEW rally in Jacksonville. The pyro alone was spectacular. They’re doing it really professionally, from the heads of the company to their big talent to the newer stars. I’m very curious to see what Cody and the Young Bucks can do with All Elite Wrestling.

Goldust also revealed that he wants AEW to succeed and be real competition for WWE.

I hope this really takes storm and becomes something formidable. You need places to go and work, competition is great and it is the best thing that can happen for WWE.

Rhodes then gave some heartwarming words about his brother, regarding his father's influence.

I am very proud of Cody, and I know Dad would be so proud and happy for Cody. He has a great mind for the business, he’s done so much already, but he’s paid attention and learned from mistakes. He’s fought for what he has, and his work in AEW will show that.

What's next?

As for now, Goldust is sidelined due to injury. Will we see him in AEW or will he remain in WWE? Only time will tell.
