WWE/AEW News: John Cena once again references AEW's Kenny Omega
What's the story?
Multi-time WWE World Champion, John Cena has been a major part of the Pro Wrestling business for years now. Despite having shared the ring with some of the biggest names in the business, Cena is yet to step into the ring with former IWGP Heavyweight Champion, Kenny Omega.
In another bizarre Instagram post, Cena has now referenced All Elite Wrestling's hottest acquisition Kenny Omega.
In case you didn't know...
In 2017, right after Omega's contract with New Japan Pro Wrestling had expired, John Cena took to his Instagram handle and posted a photo of former Bullet Club leader Kenny Omega. The photo itself had no description in it and also got the attention of Omega, who stated in an interview that Cena is one of the greatest wrestlers' of all time and 'The Best Bout Machine' is glad to be on the latter's radar.
The heart of the matter
Since his transition to the Heavyweight Division from Jr. Heavyweight in NJPW, former IWGP Heavyweight Champion, Kenny Omega has established his legacy as one of the greatest in-ring performers' of all time. The Canadian star has competed at the very highest level in NJPW and is now the Executive Vice President of the newly inaugurated All Elite Wrestling promotion.
In a recent interview at the C2E2 event, Omega noted that his current goal is to focus on AEW, however, he remains hopeful of crossing paths with WWE stars Seth Rollins and John Cena at some point down the road. (H/T: Wrestling Inc)
Omega's comments have now certainly caught the attention of John Cena, who has taken to Instagram and has referenced 'The Best Bout Machine' once again with a photo from his WWE developmental days.
What's next?
John Cena last competed in a WWE ring in early 2019 and with 'Mania 35 just two weeks away, it is unlikely Cena will return to the company in time for a match at The Grandest Stage of Them All.
