WWE apology for Russian flag fiasco part of story angle
Raw on Sept. 29 in Chicago, Illinois extended the mini-feud between Rusev and Big Show. Rusev, had taken down patriots like Jack Swagger and Mark Henry and Big Show was the next target.
On Sept. 23 during Main Event Show promised to deliver a "KO Punch" to Rusev on Smackdown to take revenge on the Russian taking out his friend Mark Henry.
He fulfilled his promise the aftermath of which was on the Sept. 29 showing of Raw. Big Show tried to get his hands on them during their promo but they escaped leaving him alone in the ring with the Russian flag which the largest athlete in the world would tear down/
WWE issued an apology on its website regarding the “incident“ :
"We at WWE would like to apologize to the Russian people for the incident on Monday Night Raw that could have been construed as disrespect for their nation's flag."
The apology is actually an angle in the feud even though it might have looked like something genuine.
The apology was something written into the storyline that will play out later.
