Backstage rumors on the potential Royal Rumble winner
Royal Rumble will see a rare occurrence when Roman Reigns defends his World Heavyweight title against 29 other men in the Royal Rumble match. It seems Reigns would overcome 28 of these obstacles, but there is one WWE star that could end up spoiling Reigns’ party and walk away with the strap.
Veteran wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer noted that Triple H is the most likely option to dethrone Reigns – which is best for business from a storyline viewpoint.
“It makes it real interesting. We know that Roman Reigns and Triple H is going to happen. But now, there’s the idea that Reigns beats 28 guys, then Triple H beats him to win the Rumble,” Dave Meltzer said after Raw on Wrestling Observer Radio,” Meltzer said.
What validated the possibility of it happening were Vince’s words – that The Game would be back to avenge the beatdown at the hands of Reigns, and that the Champ won’t even see it coming.
If Triple H does end up winning the Rumble match, a Reigns-Triple H showdown is a no-brainer at Fastlane on February 21st. If WWE plans on saving it for the grand stage of WrestleMania 32, Reigns would overcome the magnanimous odds to retain the title.
Whatever the case maybe, with John Cena out for a lengthy span due to a shoulder injury, WWE can’t afford to screw the Reigns-Triple H feud.
