Booking out the Royal Rumble match

Who will emerge victorious at the final bell?

The Royal Rumble is only hours away, and the stakes are high this year. Roman Reigns defends his WWE World Heavyweight Championship in the Royal Rumble match, and there are extremely slim chances that he will walk out as champion.

Note that none of this is confirmed, it is just my speculation.

Every year, in the Royal Rumble, there is a wrestler that stands out and dominates for a large chunk of it. Two years ago, it was Roman Reigns, and last year, it was Bray Wyatt. Both times, it elevated both stars.

Wyatt, in fact, received some great heel hate after he eliminated Daniel Bryan early.

This year, there is a large number of injured wrestlers, but there is still Brock Lesnar. That’s an obvious choice. Expect to see Lesnar clean house and be the monster he is supposed to be. But something that a lot of people seems to have looked over with the year’s Royal Rumble is the large abundance of stables in it.

If I am correct in saying that all of these will be a part, then you would see the League Of Nations, The New Day, The Social Outcasts and The Wyatt Family. That is half of the total entrants in the Rumble.

Act one

I would expect to see the Social Outcasts eliminated early, mostly because they really pose no threat. The New Day could, perhaps, hold the ring for a little while, but I don’t see them dominating either.

That leaves two candidates, and I think this really could be divided into two sections. With Roman Reigns being the first entrant, I wouldn’t be surprised if all of the members of the League Of Nations enter early on, as the are a subsidiary of The Authority (kind of), and if all four of them are in, they have a great chance of eliminating Roman Reigns.

Entrant number two, however, I think will be Dean Ambrose. His on-screen friendship with Roman Reigns makes it sensible for this to happen. He’ll likely be a main stay in the match until the end.

As the entrants progress, I think Braun Strowman will be the first of the Wyatts, because he can hold his own and set the stage. Bray Wyatt will probably be the last of the Wyatt Family to enter, and my money is on him to win the entire match.

Perhaps we’ll see a stand-off with the League Of Nations and the Wyatt Family at some point.

Turning the tables

The comes the middle of the Rumble, in which a few jobbers and surprise entrants (wink) would enter, and then the final ten.

Considering what happened on Raw, this is possibly when Brock Lesnar would enter the equation. I don’t expect Roman Reigns to be eliminated as yet, and he would be seeking retribution against the Wyatts for what they did to him.

This battle could go on until the very end of the Rumble. In the middle of that, Kevin Owens is likely to enter, and change the face of things. Maybe even a little tease at a duel between him and Lesnar.

Looking at the three parties that closed off Raw, Reigns, Wyatt and Lesnar are arguably going to be the last three men. Joining them, possibly, would be Kevin Owens and Dean Ambrose. I do not see Ambrose winning because he is already holding the Intercontinental Championship, which I don’t see him losing to Kevin Owens.

I don’t think Owens will win because it’s too early for him to win the championship.

This is when it gets complicated. If Reigns is going to be eliminated, there has to be a good way. So, I think Triple H will help with that. I don’t see him being a part of the match, but he could just come down and eliminate Reigns anyway.

That sets up a story between the two, and leaves Lesnar and Wyatt.

It could come down to this

Sticking with the theme of outside interference, Bray Wyatt could receive help from the rest of his family and easily win, just like they did on Raw. And that’s exactly what I think should happen.

Bray Wyatt would win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, but Lesnar wouldn’t be made to look weak. Plus, it’ll likely lead into a great feud between Bray Wyatt and Brock Lesnar, which is always welcome in my book.
