WWE: Breaking up The Shield was a last minute decision

Seth Rollins turns heel on Monday Night Raw

Right when The Shield were gaining the upperhand against Evolution, Seth Rollins turned against his partners, Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns, to bring an end to the faction.

As it turns out, the betrayal was only a last minute decision. Even though the WWE was planning to break The Shield possibly at Wrestlemania 30, the plan was however scrapped.

Due to the uncertainty surrounding the WWE World Heavyweight Championship and due to the return of The Evolution, it was clear that The Sheild break up was the only move left for the WWE script writers.

With The Evolution losing two consecutive PPV matches against The Shield, the faction was becoming powerful than ever, generating interest from the fans.

Batista’s recent departure could also be the reason behind breaking up The Shield and teaming Seth Rollins with The Evolution.

That does leave the Hounds of Justice with one member less which sparks the idea of a possible addition to the faction story. Who knows there might be a major superstar returning soon to the company.
