WWE could have a creative plan to ensure Roman Reigns doesn't defend his Championship again in 2023
Roman Reigns hasn't defended his Undisputed WWE Universal Championship since WrestleMania and isn't set to put it on the line anytime soon, since he will be challenging for the Tag Team Championships next weekend in Saudi Arabia instead.
Recent reports now suggest that the implosion of The Bloodline will take center stage and at Money in the Bank it could be The Usos taking on Roman Reigns and Solo Sikoa which would allow The Tribal Chief to avoid another title defense.
There are also reports now that Roman Reigns will be taking a break from the company once again following SummerSlam, and that he will be taking his championship with him.
Reigns is already under fire from the WWE Universe for his lack of time on TV, and it appears that the company's answer to this is to unveil the new World Heavyweight Championship and take the focus away from the star.
Roman Reigns could go through the next seven months without defending his Championship
If WWE continues to book Reigns in tag team matches and he can lift the titles in Saudi Arabia, he could spend the last few months of the year following his return from hiatus defending the Tag Team Championships instead.
This would be a creative way to ensure that the titles remain on Reigns until the new year and make him once again a major part of the build to WrestleMania. At present, The Bloodline story is the hottest act on WWE TV and can be milked for several months with or without Reigns on-screen.
The Usos and Solo Sikoa have carried the story since WrestleMania and could push it forward into 2023 if needed.
