Dean Ambrose talks the Shield, comparisons with legends and more

WWE’s perennial ant-heroes

WWE Intercontinental Champion Dean Ambrose joined Jonathan Coachman in ESPN’s “Off The Top Rope” segment and opened up on a host of topics including the Shield, his conditioning and being compared to legendary WWE stars.

Coachman started off with a question regarding Ambrose’s body and what he’s been doing to keep it in great shape. By stating that he doesn’t worry about it, Ambrose said that hasn’t felt any better and that his body is holding up great.

On the comparisons to Roddy Piper and Steve Austin

Ambrose’s character and the way he carries himself have drawn countless comparisons to greats such as Roddy Piper and Stone Cold Steve Austin.

Ambrose, when asked as to which out of the two comparisons he likes the best – didn‘t chose anyone in particular – but argued that the reason he gets compared so often is because he has spent countless hours studying the absolute greats of the wrestling business.

The Lunatic Fringe termed himself as a historian and added that he is a lifelong fan of pro wrestling.

The success of Shield in his rise to the top and what he thinks the faction proved

Shield is undoubtedly one of the best things to happen in the WWE in the past decade or so, and Ambrose said that he couldn't have asked for a better start – a start that has catapulted all three members to enviable heights early on their careers.

The faction backed up their words of taking over the industry – according to Ambrose, and he believes that he along with Rollins and Reigns have proved to be relentless workhorses for the industry as a whole.

He also spoke about breaking it on his own and revealed that he is a Cincinnati Bengals fan to conclude the interview.

Jonathan Coachman also shed light on the top moments from the first episode of RAW for 2016.

According to Coachman – the top promo was from Heath Slater and the Social Outcasts, Jericho earned the top return accolade, Kevin Owens vs Neville being the top match and Vince McMahon’s outing as a special referee and eating a superman punch being the top moment of the show.
