WWE Elimination Chamber 2014: Superstar Ratings
A pay-per-view that was riding so high on expectations once again went in vain as the WWE failed to produce fireworks at the Elimination Chamber.
In a PPV which saw all the matches going according to the predictions, the clash between Wyatt Family and the Shield was the only one worth remembering. Though the Elimination Chamber match had some intense moments the stale ending cost the company as once again their pay-per-view ended with unhappy fans.
The much anticipated breaking up of Shield didn’t happen as well leaving everyone cursing the moment that they decided to get their hands on Elimination Chamber.
With the matches not being up to the mark the only thing that the creative could do was to make look the individuals good and let’s take a look at how they stood up in that area with the superstar ratings for the Elimination Chamber.
Darren Young -3
If there was a superstar that had the luxury of Wrestling at the Elimination Chamber and still walked out without anything to boast about, it has to be Darren Young.
The match against Titus O’Neil was just a one sided affair which was designed to look the newly turned heel look good and unfortunately for Darren Young this might be the last time he is seeing some pay-per-view time. There was nothing graceful about his loss as well which make Young the worst performer of the Elimination Chamber.
Jack Swagger- 4
There were a lot of eye brows raised when Swagger was given a shot at the Intercontinental title, and the company failed to justify why they did the same as Swagger looked like a messy challenger for Big E.
The match wasn’t anything other than ordinary and suffered a lot from the fact that Swagger still fails to attract heat from the crowd. He clearly is the weak link in the Real Americans at the moment and instead of teasing a split between Zeb Colter and Swagger the company maybe should make it happen soon.
Titus O’Neil- 5
From the looks of it, Titus O’Neil is in a well-placed heel push at the moment which could leave him fighting it out for some major midcard title (Intercontinental to be precise) in the near future.
There was nothing special about his win against Darren Young however as it was nothing more than a squash match. But a matchup between O’Neil and Langston is certainly a good one to look forward to if the WWE doesn’t do the magic trick and make his push disappear.
Rybaxel- 5
It was a performance which exceeded the expectations from Ryback and Curtis Axel against the Rhodes Brothers.
Axel even got some cheers from here and there which added a nice touch to the whole thing. However, a loss drags them back from getting a title shot anytime soon and in such a big tag division, it won’t be late since they lose their footing unless the creative puts in some extra work into the two superstars.
Big E Langston – 5
There were no doubts about Langston going home with a win against Jack Swagger. Langston and Swagger had an awkward chemistry together and this made the match a bit of a slugfest after sometime.
But a win over a former World Champion (Swagger was champion if you don’t remember) will get Langston back in track before his big WrestleMania moment as the Intercontinental Champion.
Batista – 5.5
Last time we checked Batista was still a face but the Animal carried no heat what so ever when he scored a stale win against Alberto Del Rio at the Elimination Chamber.
He seems set for a match against Randy Orton at WrestleMania for the title at the moment and since both Orton and Batista are failing to lift the crowd, the match might turn out to be a big mess leaving more criticism on the company.
Alberto Del Rio- 5.5
The Mexican was received warmly by the crowd like he was the top face of the company. Del Rio worked out some great strategy and looked graceful in the ring before being knocked out by a spear.
Though he lost the match, Del Rio gained a lot from this one as the crowd’s uneasiness with Batista worked in favor of him. With some sort of momentum built now, the company should be thinking about putting him in some credible feud next.
The New Age Outlaws- 5.5
The New Age Outlaws maybe more entertaining champions than the Rhodes Brothers but one must admit that the team if being held hardly by their age.
Limits to which the company has to go in order to book them in a protected manner slightly took the sting of their match against the Usos but the degenerates showed glimpses that they still got something in them.
Nevertheless, a win for the veterans and it almost guarantees their ticket to WrestleMania as champions.
Rhodes Brothers -5.5
Nothing more than an average performance from the Rhodes Brothers at the Chamber and the only purpose of the match was to put them back in the scene for another title chase.
There were no signs of cracks between the duo as well which means that we might not be seeing the highly anticipated feud between the two this year. A win brings back some sort of momentum back for the Rhodes Brothers as they get back on track to chase the degenerates.
