WWE Elimination Chamber: 5 little-known facts about the eventĀ
Elimination Chamber is now merely days away and will decide not only who will face Brock Lesnar in the main event of WrestleMania 34, but also who will be the Raw Women's Champion heading into the biggest event of the year.
This year history will be made as seven-men step inside the Chamber for the first time whilst six women also make their debut's inside Satan's structure. Elimination Chamber has been part of the Road to WrestleMania for a long time and over the past few years, there have been a number of facts accumulated surrounding the event.
#5. The Elimination Chamber was Vince McMahon's answer to War Games
War Games is obviously a match type that is best associated with WCW, even though NXT recently participated in a Takeover event which included the sadistic match type. WWE decided to incorporate all of the features from Hell in a Cell, The Royal Rumble (the countdown clock) and War Games into one match to create the Elimination Chamber.
It seems that War Games was pitched to Vince McMahon a number of times before he decided to push for the Elimination Chamber. He even allowed Eric Bischoff to point out that War Games was the inspiration for the match type, to begin with.
Whilst War Games needs two rings to take place, it seems that WWE managed to put everything that WCW created into one ring so that it can be used more often.
