WWE enters partnership with NJPW, Jushin 'Thunder' Liger set to make an appearance at NXT Takeover

Jushin ‘Thunder’ Liger set to appear on NXT

In a shocking yet welcome announcement, late last night, WWE made an official announcement following the latest set of NXT tapings about Jushin ‘Thunder’ Liger being set to make an appearance at next month’s NXT Takeover event in Brooklyn, New York.

Jushin Liger, one of the most iconic wrestlers ever to come out of New Japan Pro Wrestling, has made a name for himself due to his colourful character and fast-paced in-ring style. The partnership between WWE & NJPW is quite surprising given how WWE never acknowledges competition and it has to be believed that this is a shot across to Ring Of Honor, more than anything else.

The association between NJPW and WWE opens up the possibilities of matches involving Shinsuke Nakamura, Kazuchika Okada and Hiroshi Tanahashi against WWE stalwarts such as John Cena, Cesaro and Dolph Ziggler. However, Dave Meltzer has been quick to slow down expectations on Twitter saying that he thinks that the deal will be limited to NXT.
