The backstory

It has been well over 5 years since CM Punk left WWE immediately after competing in the Royal Rumble match, which was won by Batista. Punk went on to compete in UFC, but lost both of his fights, unfortunately.

Before becoming one of the biggest Superstars of his generation, Punk paid his dues in a string of indie promotions and wrestled against future WWE Champions and main event stars. Many aren't aware of the fact that Punk actually cried backstage after his debut match on WWE TV, back in 2006.

The debut

By the time Survivor Series came around, Punk had become one of the hottest rising stars in WWE, and got a loud reaction from the live crowd at the PPV. Months before this event, Punk made his WWE TV debut on August 1st, 2006.

A pre-match segment saw Punk cutting a scathing promo, giving a hint of what was to come in the near future. The "CM Punk" chants immediately began as he battled Justin Credible in his debut match. An Anaconda Vice Grip ended the match in Punk's favor, amidst the roaring fans.

After the match, Punk reportedly was overwhelmed with emotion, and cried backstage. The boss himself, Vince McMahon praised his performance and thus kicked off one of the greatest pro-wrestling careers in recent memory.

The Aftermath

Soon after, Punk rose through the ranks on the main roster and won his first WWE Title at Money In The Bank. weeks after cutting one of the greatest promos in WWE history, now famously dubbed as "The Pipe Bomb".

A bunch of backstage disagreements led to Punk's 2014 departure, and it seems like we might never get to see Punk back in WWE, ever again.
