WWE History: When Earl Hebner took down Triple H & DX
The backstory
The on-screen relationship between Triple H and former WWE referee, Earl Hebner, is an amusing one, to say the least.
The duo have been seen going at it in the middle of the ring several times, with Hebner always fighting back on every occasion Triple H put his hands on the veteran.
Hebner has been used in multiple storylines over the course of the past several decades, most notably when Hulk Hogan was tricked by Ted Dibiase on the road to WrestleMania 4, and when he took part in the Montreal Screwjob.

Hebner destroys DX
A clip recently surfaced on Instagram, which shows Earl Hebner in action as you've never seen him before.
From the looks of it, the video seems to be from a house show. Although the clip is extremely grainy and of poor quality, it's good enough for the fans to get a laugh at how goofy it ended up being.
It shows Triple H doing his usual schtick of bullying Earl Hebner, a sight wrestling fans are well too familiar with. Fans also remember how Hebner has always fought back, but this time, the higher-ups went all the way with letting him go at it!
Almost immediately after Triple H pushes Hebner, he hits back with a hard shove on The Game, enough for Triple H to fall back.
In one of the most hilarious in-ring fights you'll ever see, Hebner proceeds to kick Triple H out of the ring and follows it up with two back to back punches on X-Pac and Road Dogg. Hebner then mocks the trio with their signature DX crotch chop, with The Dudley Boyz standing beside him.
There have been countless moments in the past when referees have fought back in the ring, to the point that WWE turned it into a Top 10 compilation, but this rare gem takes the cake when it comes to pure hilarity.
