WWE history: When Jim Cornette threatened Brock Lesnar with a gun

The backstory

Brock Lesnar made his WWE debut on the Raw after WrestleMania 18, and beat the tar out of Maven, Al Snow, and Spike Dudley. Before his call up on the main roster, Brock spent a considerable amount of time in Ohio Valley Wrestling, WWE's developmental territory.

During his time there, Lesnar wrestled against the likes of John Cena and Batista. He was put into a team alongside Shelton Benjamin, an incredibly talented athlete. Jim Cornette was the booker and part owner of OVW at the time. During a shoot interview, Jim Cornette is seen recalling his experience with Brock Lesnar in OVW. In one of the most fascinating stories involving Lesnar, Cornette stated that he once threatened Brock after he purposefully botched a move that ended up hurting Cornette's girlfriend.

The incident

An angle was planned for a tag team match pitting Benjamin and Lesnar against The Disciples of Synn, in which Lesnar would press slam Cornette's girlfriend Stacy, who was managing the opponents.

According to Jim, Stacy had asked Brock to be gentle while press-slamming her, but he ended up hurting her while executing the move. Stacy came to the back in tears, cursing at Lesnar and telling Cornette that he hurt her even after she had asked him to be careful during the move. This led to The Beast cursing back at Cornette's girlfriend, and this didn't sit well with him.

Cornette confronted Brock and said: “Look moth******er, you need to know this now. Don’t say f**k you to her in front of me because I won’t fight you, I will shoot you.”

Because would you fight Brock Lesnar? No. He’s the f***ing Beast. He’s a goddamn genetic f******g freak and nobody’s gonna fight him, but if he said the wrong thing to the wrong person, they’re gonna f***ing shoot him. And I don’t care how tough he is, he ain’t gonna nip-up after a f***in’ gunshot to the f******g head.

The aftermath

Cornette is currently a color commentator in MLW, while Brock Lesnar is signed with WWE for a perk-filled contract.
