What's the story?

Last week, it was announced that Impact Knockouts Champion Laurel Van Ness aka Chelsea Green was released from her contract with Impact Wrestling. Now, PWInsider is reporting on the first appearance she will make after Impact, and it will be for Major League Wrestling.

In case you didn't know...

Chelsea Green was a replacement for an injured competitor on the 2015 edition of WWE's Tough Enough where she finished fourth, but that wasn't her first appearance on WWE television. On an August 2014 edition of Monday Night Raw, Green would make an appearance as Daniel Bryan's physical therapist who claimed to have an affair with Bryan.

The heart of the matter

Green will make her debut for Major League Wrestling on February 8th where she will take on Priscilla Kelly. The press release states that Green is going to look for payback on Kelly. This stems from an attack backstage by Kelly at the MLW Never Say Never event in December.

Other wrestlers set to appear on the card include MVP, Matt Riddle, Jeff Cobb (aka Matanza on Lucha Underground), and Shane Strickland (aka Killshot in Lucha Underground).

Green is currently dating WWE Superstar Zack Ryder, and some rumors have been floating around that the reason she wanted to leave Impact Wrestling the night she won the Impact Knockouts Championship, is because she was informed that she would be signed by NXT if she wanted to leave.

What's next?

We need to wait and watch the next steps in the professional wrestling career of Chelsea Green. However, it seems like a deal with the WWE could be on the horizon.

Author's take

On my Lost In The Midcard podcast, my co-host, Matt Black stated that he believes the deal on the table was the exact reason why Green wanted to leave Impact Wrestling the day she became champion. I agree with that idea.

I think she'll add a lot to an already stacked NXT roster of women, with or without her Laurel Van Ness character. It was definitely a unique character, so I wouldn't rule out a version of it in NXT, because it did set her apart from the rest of the Knockouts Division.
