WWE/Impact News: Impact Wrestling responds to Kurt Angle's TNA comment on Raw
What's the story?
After losing their WrestleMania match to Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan, the "best friends", Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn were left looking for employment. They went to Raw General Manager Kurt Angle looking for a job this week, and Angle responded with a classic line that TNA was hiring.
Impact Wrestling decided to respond with a couple of tweets.
In case you didn't know...
Two weeks before WrestleMania, Daniel Bryan announced that the WWE medical staff cleared him to return to the ring. That night ended with a vicious beating by Owens and Zayn on Bryan.
The following week, Bryan issued the challenge to Owens and Zayn to face Bryan and Shane at WrestleMania, and if Owens and Zayn were victorious, they would get their jobs back on SmackDown.
The heart of the matter
The TNA line by Angle definitely popped the unique and special "Raw after Mania" crowd in New Orleans on Monday. This would prompt two tweets from Impact Wrestling.
The first tweet was an immediate response to Kurt's comment, basically correcting him that they are known as Impact Wrestling and not TNA any longer. The second tweet was in regards to the fact that they are hiring, and well, to quote Eli Drake, it's a fact of life!
Angle made a match between Owens and Zayn with the winner being rewarded a spot on the Raw roster. It was a really good match that ended in a draw when both men couldn't answer the referee's ten count.
What's next?
It will be interesting to see where this saga with Owens and Zayn goes after the draw on Monday. They may get another chance during part one of the Superstar Shakeup on April 16th when Monday Night Raw takes place from the XL Center in Hartford, Connecticut.
Author's take
It was definitely smart of Impact Wrestling to respond to the line of Angle's. It is very rare that they are ever mentioned on WWE television. I remember how everyone was shocked when Steve Austin brought it up to Vince McMahon on the WWE Network podcast.
I think in the end, Stephanie McMahon is going to step in and hire them both since she hates her brother, and wants to make Kurt Angle's job tougher.
