WWE/Impact News: Scott D'Amore believes AJ Styles will return to Impact one day

AJ S
AJ Styles has been arguably WWE's biggest star since joining in 2016

What’s the story?

He's one of the best wrestlers on the planet, arguably THE best. At 40 years old, AJ Styles shows no signs of slowing down as the WWE Champion and as the face of SmackDown Live.

But Scott D'Amore of Impact Wrestling believes that one day, 'The Phenomenal One' will make his return to Impact - formerly known as TNA.

In case you didn’t know…

Well, AJ Styles shocked the world in 2016 when he entered the Royal Rumble Match and, since then, he's lit both WWE and the wrestling world on fire, having possibly the hottest first two years of anyone to join the company.

But before WWE, 'The Phenomenal One' had already made quite the name for himself in NJPW, ROH and a certain TNA - where Styles spent 11 years and became a Triple Crown and Grand Slam Champion.

The heart of the matter

While it doesn't look like 'The Phenomenal One' will be leaving WWE anytime soon, one man thinks WWE won't be his final destination in wrestling.

Speaking on Sitting Ringside with David Penzer, Impact Wrestling Vice President Scott D'Amore was asked, "If anyone was available, and you could pick one wrestler to build Impact Wrestling around, who it would be?"

God, that's a tough question! A.J. [Styles] was the face of this company for so long, and I have to think somewhere in the back of my mind, very deep in my heart, there's one day that A.J. steps back in an Impact ring and has that homecoming moment!

What's next?

Well, the former United States Champion has made quite the impact in WWE since joining, and he's at the very top of the food chain.

He put on a match of the year contender with Brock Lesnar at Survivor Series and now looks set to headline WrestleMania in a dream match against Shinsuke Nakamura.

Author’s take

It doesn't look like we'll see Styles outside WWE in the near future, but you never know!

It just depends how close Impact is to AJ's heart. He seems to be having the time of his life in WWE and has spoken very highly of the company - but he did spend over a decade in TNA.

Styles is a massive draw no matter where he goes, so he could easily bring eyes to Impact if he returned for one match, but you wouldn't blame him for seeing out the rest of his career in WWE. Hopefully, that end is a long time away anyway.
