WWE/Indy News: Rich Swann's first match confirmed following WWE release
What’s the story?
Recently released WWE superstar and former Cruiserweight Champion Rich Swann has been confirmed for several Independent bookings over the course of the next few months, in what will be Swann’s return to the wrestling ring for the first time in several months.
In case you didn’t know…
Earlier in the week, Rich Swann and WWE finally parted ways following Swann’s arrest for battery and kidnapping/false imprisonment back in December of 2017. Before signing with the WWE in 2015, Rich Swann was known for his time in Independent circuit with various promotions such as Dragon Gate USA, Evolve Wrestling, and CZW.
Swann kick-started his WWE career under the company’s developmental brand of NXT, before entering the WWE Cruiserweight Classic in 2016 and on the first ever episode of WWE 205 Live, Rich Swann became the brand new WWE Cruiserweight Champion by defeating Brian Kendrick for the championship belt.
The heart of the matter
Following his release from the WWE, Rich Swann has now been confirmed to make an appearance for the House of Hardcore promotion, which was founded by WWE legend Tommy Dreamer, on the 23rd of March in St. James in New York City and on March 24th in Philadelphia. Additionally, the former WWE Cruiserweight Champion has also been confirmed for House of Hardcore’s 7th April show which takes place during Wrestlemania 34 weekend in New Orleans.
Furthermore, Swann’s next appearance was also seemingly established earlier today, as the 27-year-old is now assigned to make his debut for Mexican promotion The Crash Lucha Libre on the 17th of March in Tijuana, Mexico.
What’s next?
However, as of right now, none of Rich Swann’s opponents for these aforementioned have been confirmed and we are also yet to hear any further statement from the man himself, following his release from the WWE.
Author’s Take
Rich Swann is one of the most talented high-flying wrestlers on the planet today and Swann getting his first pre-WWE booking, two days after his release, comes as no surprise to me.
