WWE influence in U.S. election: 3 legends who support Donald Trump and 2 legends who support Kamala Harris
WWE has had a hand in American politics for many years. Linda McMahon and Jesse 'The Body' Ventura are two names who come to mind from the wrestling industry that have tried their luck in public service. Presidential candidate Donald Trump is also someone with WWE ties who has had major success in the political scene.
Donald Trump was involved in the "Battle of the Billionaires" at WrestleMania 23. Since then, there have been several WWE Superstars who have expressed their support for Trump. Now, with the election just days away, we take a look at some of the legends who have been supportive of one candidate or another.
This is our list of three WWE Superstars who support Donald Trump and two who support Kamala Harris.
Team Trump - Mayor of Knox County, Tennessee, Kane
Over a half million Tennesseans call Knox County home. The region is home to the Great Smoky Mountains and is a tourist hotspot. WWE Hall of Fame legend Kane has been a resident of Knox County for years, which is also where he has owned an insurance business for quite a while. In 2018, the citizens of the East Tennessee county elected him to be their mayor.
Since leaving the wrestling business to the younger generation, Kane has put the mask away. In its place, Glenn Jacobs has put on the suit and tie, devoting his life to public service. In a recent viral video on Donald Trump's TikTok account, The Brothers of Destruction declared their support for the former President.
Team Harris - The Hardcore Legend, Mick Foley
Mick Foley is arguably one of the most-liked superstars in WWE history. Mick didn't have the chiseled look and technical wizardry that many of his colleagues possessed. He made up for his inadequacies by sacrificing his body to the extreme for the sake of entertainment.
It's been years since Mick Foley was flying off of scaffolds and putting his body through hell in some of the most extreme hardcore matches ever. Foley has since taken the safer route, making appearances at conventions and signing autographs. Foley is also pretty active on social media, which is where he responded to The Undertaker's support of Donald Trump.
"The Undertaker is correct when he said Donald Trump has made politics fun again...but 8 years later, there's absolutely nothing fun about this man," said Foley.
Team Trump - 7-time WWE Champion The Undertaker
As previously mentioned, Kane and The Undertaker went viral in a video with Donald Trump when they officially announced their support for Trump. While Taker was the more vocal of the two Hall of Famers, both legends let the entire world know that they stood firm in the corner for Team Trump.
The WWE Universe was excited to see The Undertaker make a surprise appearance at WrestleMania 40. During the final moments of Cody Rhodes' huge title win over Roman Reigns, Taker made his Mania moment when he planted The Rock with a chokeslam. The Undertaker will forever be remembered as one of the true greats in and out of the ring. He has always been loved and respected by fans and superstars alike.
Team Harris - 6-time WWE Champion Batista
Dave Bautista has been known to be openly liberal, in regards to his political stance. In this particular election, he seems to have taken it more personally than in the past. Dave announced back in September that he was throwing his support behind Kamala Harris. He also took to Instagram to encourage people to get out and vote.
Batista was one of several legends from the famous 2000 developmental class. Along with Randy Orton and Brock Lesnar, these stars started with OVW before making their splash onto the main roster.
Batista is also known for being one of the select few superstars who have become major box-office sensations in Hollywood. There have been rumors of his possible WWE return, but The Animal hasn't been in the ring in several years.
Team Trump - The Real American, Hulk Hogan
Professional wrestling owes much of its success to the contributions of legends such as Hulk Hogan. Hulkamania ran wild for decades, opening the eyes of the world and introducing the sport to millions of fans worldwide who otherwise wouldn't have paid any attention to sports entertainment.
When it comes to politics, Hulk Hogan has always been open and upfront about who he supports. The Hulkster has been on Team Trump for a long time, and he has been one of the most vocal celebrity voices in favor of the 45th President. Hogan has been a speaker at multiple Trump rallies, including the most recent event at Madison Square Garden.
