WWE: Jim Ross confirms his absence from Summerslam 2014, will address 2k14 misconstrued debacle
According to reports, James William “Jim” Ross, who recently retired from commentary in WWE confirmed his unavailability at this year’s Summer Slam PPV which scheduled for next month on his podcast this week.
The commentator, who was indicted into the WWE Hall of fame in 2007, mentioned his non-availability relating to the controversy at the 2013 WWE 2K14 game reveal event.
Last year, the event was hosted by former commentator Jim Ross and the event was to indict the new wrest mania mode in the new video game, organised by 2K sports and Twitch TV. The controversy happened when Ross indicated that most of the panel were sober, “but not all” which lead to a disastrous chaos and the entire event turned out to be uninteresting. Then Ric Flair’s unassociated commentary, where he didn’t relate to any of the matches meant the entire event was in disarray.
Both WWE and 2K were disappointed with the way the event was organised, with Stephanie McMahon believed to have apologised to 2K sponsors at the end of the event.
“I’m not gonna be attending SummerSlam in Los Angeles, as many of you have asked. I’ll only be in L.A. around that time if I have work to do for Fox Sports or PodcastOne; none of which are scheduled. I plan on watching SummerSlam on my patio, looking at my pond, watching on my iPad and being completely content. Last year’s misconstrued debacle at the video game symposium party pretty well put a nail in my coffin. The stories emanating from some will be addressed. I want to get around to writing about that event in my first book, or in my second book.”
