WWE Reports: John Cena to regain the WWE Heavyweight title at Night of Champions
WWE Night of Champions may see John Cena win back the WWE World Heavyweight championship belt against Brock Lesnar.
It is being said that there has been no finalised outcome decided yet, but Cena regaining the title back is very much on the cards and it could be a last minute decision. If it does happen, Cena will equal the Nature Boy Ric Flair’s record of 16 World title reigns.
Cena lost the championship at SummerSlam after he was viciously beaten up by Lesnar who won the title in an emphatic manner. On the next episode of Monday Night Raw, the Cenation leader invoked his automatic rematch clause to face The Beast Incarnate on September 21 at Night of Champions pay-per-view.
However, the plan to keep Lesnar as the champion until Wrestlemania 31 where he will lose it to Roman Reigns is still in place. The passing of the torch angle will also go down even if Cena remains as the champion.
The outcome of Brock vs Cena match will supposedly affect other WWE superstars as well. If Lesnar continues to be the champion, then his rumoured feud with the Big Show will go ahead. Whereas Cena winning back the title will pitch Show against Bray Wyatt while Mark Henry will continue to battle Rusev.
