Major worry for the WWE over John Cena

Worrying times for the WWE?

According to reports, WWE’s top brass are having sleepless nights due to the declining merchandise sales of injured WWE superstar John Cena, which have steadily dropped in the past year with no other star’s merchandise capable of pulling in as much cash as Cena’s.

The report also notes that WWE initially pinned their hopes on the then WWE World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns to address the sales problem.

The only stumbling block is that the WWE top brass share the opinion that Reigns isn’t “connecting with fans like they want” and that has led to his merchandise sales “coming nowhere near where they need to be to make up for the loss with Cena.”

Over the past year, Cena has spent the majority of his time on the sidelines. Before taking a two-month hiatus from WWE in late 2015 to concentrate on his TV career, Cena spent most of the year as WWE United States champion, while swatting off competition who wanted to relieve him of his title.

Cena participated in just one WWE World Heavyweight Championship match last year, which came against Seth Rollins at SummerSlam.
