WWE legend to return and help Jey Uso dethrone Gunther at Saturday Night’s Main Event? Potential scenario analyzed
Jey Uso interrupted Gunther's segment on RAW and challenged him to a match on the January 25 Saturday Night's Main Event, where he will look to become World Champion for the first time in his WWE career.
However, The Ring General enters the match as a favorite to win, given his dominant run on the main roster since he moved to Monday Night RAW.
However, Jey Uso could dethrone Gunther with some help from a WWE legend who has started a feud with the reigning World Heavyweight Champion. This WWE legend is Goldberg.
Goldberg has unfinished business with The Ring General since Bad Blood in early October when the two had a confrontation in the ring. So, at Saturday Night's Main Event, the WWE legend could show up and distract the reigning champion, setting the stage for a match at WrestleMania 41.
Goldberg is expected to have a retirement match in WWE in 2025 and The Ring General could be his opponent.
Two superstars are reportedly expected to come after Gunther following the Royal Rumble
Goldberg might not be the only superstar to come after Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship going forward. Two more superstars are reportedly expected to pursue a title shot against The Ring General after the Royal Rumble.
The first one is CM Punk, who has built momentum after his victory over Seth Rollins on the RAW premiere on Netflix and has announced his participation in the Rumble match, aiming to win it and dethrone Gunther at WrestleMania 41.
The Best in the World has made it clear that he is coming after the reigning World Heavyweight Champion, but he is not the only one. Rollins wants to prevent Punk from becoming World Champion, so he is expected to come after The Ring General as well.
What direction the WWE creative will move to remains unclear, but as Punk and Rollins are set to extend their feud to WrestleMania 41, the World Heavyweight Championship could be on the line when the two meet again.
The other scenario is for the reigning champion to retain the title through 'Mania and put it on the line against both stars in a Triple Threat Match.
