WWE legend to be revealed as the mastermind behind Kevin Owens injuring Randy Orton? Potential twist explored
Randy Orton has been deemed out of WWE for an indefinite period after suffering a horrific neck injury at the hands of Kevin Owens on SmackDown last week. The former WWE Universal Champion used a banned move, 'The Piledriver' against Orton, rendering him motionless on the ground.
He was rushed to the hospital, and it was later reported by WWE that The Viper was diagnosed with cervical cord neurapraxia. However, a thought crosses the mind over why Kevin Owens used a banned move on Orton. Who gave him a green signal to go ahead with it? And certainly, if Owens was allowed to do it, then the decision wouldn't have come from anyone other than WWE CCO Triple H.
Hunter was already miffed with Orton when the latter called him to the middle of the ring on SmackDown before Crown Jewel and demanded a match against Owens. While he was initially reluctant to grant it, he conceded but left with a warning. Hunter warned Orton to protect himself at all times.
It was perplexing to watch Triple H backing Owens in this drama, and his warning to Orton made it even more confusing. When Randy didn't listen to him and once again came out on SmackDown after Crown Jewel demanding KO, the Prizefighter emerged and gave Orton a Piledriver to supposedly teach him a lesson upon Triple H's instructions.
Owens' attack at Orton at Crown Jewel might also have been on Hunter's instructions.
While there isn't any personal animosity between Triple H and Randy Orton, Hunter's anger at The Viper might be because of the latter not listening to his warnings and going after KO.
Orton is out for an undisclosed time, while Owens is looking for an opponent. The two were expected to cross paths at Survivor Series: WarGames PLE, but it doesn't seem possible now.
Cody Rhodes might replace Randy Orton and challenge Kevin Owens at WWE Survivor Series
Since Orton's availability for the Survivor Series PLE looks uncertain, it appears that Cody Rhodes will now challenge Owens for a match at Survivor Series. The American Nightmare was with The Viper as he was being taken to the hospital.
It was initially a feud between Rhodes and Owens. Orton tried to pacify Kevin Owens, but the latter ended up hitting him instead. KO was seemingly disgruntled with Cody for aligning with The Bloodline at Bad Blood. Thereby, he attacked Cody backstage at Bad Blood.
When Cody and KO had a face-off on SmackDown, Orton tried to mediate between the two and ended up getting into a scuffle with Owens. From there, things only turned bad between the two.
Cody Rhodes' opponent for the Survivor Series has yet to be decided. However, there are chances that the WWE Undisputed Universal Champion will face Owens at the mega event on November 30, 2024.
And who knows, maybe Owens wants Cody's WWE Title to be on the line at the event, and Triple H grants him. Anything is possible. It remains to be seen how Cody reacts to Owens' assault at Orton.
