Detailed results from WWE Live Event: Cena vs. Orton, Alberto Del Rio vs. Sin Cara and more

Los Matadores (w/ El Torito) def. Team Rybaxel (Curtis Axel & Ryback)

Los Matadores came out to a decent pop (mostly for El Torito) and then Team Rybaxel came out to a surprising amount of “Feed me more” chants. Ryback was being treated as a face by the crowd until he grabbed a mic and said, “Shut Up! I don’t need your support”. The match itself was more of a comedy segment to the get the crowd ready for the rest of the night, not bad in my opinion.

Alberto Del Rio def. Sin Cara

Good contest overall. There were a lot of “Si!” chants for Alberto who won via the cross arm-breaker. The highlight of the match for me was the fact that the kid sitting behind me was trying to convince his parents that Alberto Del Rio was British.

Crowd Choice match: The Bella Twins def. Aksana and Alicia

As usual for house shows the options were Dance Off or Tag Match, and also as usual once the winning option of a dance off went sour it turned into a good back and forth match that saw The Bella Twins pick up the victory.

Tag Team Championship Match: Cody Rhodes and Goldust def. The Real Americans (Antonio Cesaro and Jack Swagger) w/ Zeb Colter

This was the match of the night for sure. Before the match there were a ton of “We The People” chants, then Colter talked about how he liked Wilkes-Barre, The Eagles, Steelers, Penn State (which got a good pop out of the crowd) just not the fact that “the women were ugly and there were so many illegals.” Then out came the Rhodes Brothers, to a big reaction that consisted of “Goldust!” chants filling the arena. The match itself was very solid with a lot of back and forth action. The highlights had to be Cody Rhodes’s standing moonsault from the top rope to Swagger that looks so much cooler in person. After the match was over Cody grabbed a mic and talked about the reaction his brother got and for being 44 years old not another guy in the back could lace up his boots, which prompted the crowd to chant “Goldust” again.

Intermission, which showed a video package of Alexander Rusev and WWE Network

The Prime Time Players (Titus O’Neil and Darren Young) def. 3MB (Drew McIntyre and Jinder Mahal w/ Heath Slater)

Fresh off the break The Prime Time Players got a good pop, then 3MB came out… the crowd had barely any reaction at all. It wasn’t until Drew started yelling at people and hitting a chair off the ring post did they get any heat. The match wasn’t bad, but the crowd seemed uninvested and even a small “We want Ryder chant broke out.”

Alexander Rusev def. Justin Gabriel

In what was basically a squash match that saw Gabriel hit a few moves here and there. The most notable thing from the match was the “Put some pants on” chant targeted towards Rusev. Personally I was impressed and can’t wait to see him on the main roster.(Also as previously noted Gabriel seemed slow to get up after the match and was escorted by a ref to the back)

WWE World Heavyweight Championship Match: John Cena def. Randy Orton via DQ

It wasn’t the match of the night, but was still very good in my opinion. Randy Orton came out to a loud reaction of cheers and boos. Cena however came out to a very Cenation like crowd, with the biggest pop of the night. However it wasn’t long until the popular chant war of “Let’s go Cena! Cena sucks!” broke out. I know this is a house show but I’ll admit, I was into the match and for a second when John Cena hit the AA I believed he was going to win. The end saw Cena knock down the ref and Orton grabbed just the World Heavyweight Championship to lay out Cena until the ref could make the three count, he kicked out at two and then Orton hit Cena with a low blow. As always enough was never enough and Orton came back down to the ring to punt Cena, who moved out of the way at the last second and to rise up and hit Orton with a third AA to send the crowd home happy.

Overall I really enjoyed the show.
