WWE Live Event Lima Results 7th October 2016
WWE’s Live events in the beautiful country of Peru continued as the entourage stopped over in one of the biggest countries in South America, Lima. The red brand tore the house down in Santiago and it was now time for the fans in Lima to be starstruck by the talented crop of superstars from RAW.
With a stacked match card and some surprising upsets, the event elicited a solid response from the Peruvians. Here are the results from the RAW event from Lima:
1- The New Day vs Cesaro and Sheamus vs. The Club (RAW Tag Team Championship)
The opening bout of the night saw the RAW Tag Team Champions – who were naturally quite over with the fans, put the straps on the line against the newly former team of Cesaro and Sheamus and The Club. This was a great match to kick things off with as the New Day retained the titles.
Result: New Day def. Cesaro & Sheamus and The Club to retain the WWE Tag Team Titles
2- Braun Strowman vs. Sin Cara
If you thought this was an all out squash match, then you’d be in for a surprise. Even though Strowman decimated Sin Cara, the Luchador got in a lot of offense before eating the pin. Strowman is set to face his first real test on the upcoming episode of RAW and this was a good way of warming him up for the match.
Result: Braun Strowman def. Sin Cara via pinfall
3- Bayley & Alicia Fox vs. Nia Jax & Dana Brooke
The women of the red brand were in action up next as The Hugger teamed with Alicia Fox to take on Nia Jax and Charlotte’s protege, Dana Brooke. The faces came out on top against the heels in a short yet eventful match. Nia Jax’s inexperience in the ring was exposed in this bout and the WWE would need to address it promptly.
Result: Bayley & Alicia Fox def. Nia Jax & Dana Brooke
4- Sami Zayn vs. Luke Harper
This was a pure treat for the fans as two of the most skilled wrestlers on the roster put on a solid match. As is the norm with live event matches, the face beat the heel. The Underdog from the Underground handed the returning Luke Harper a loss in what was described as the second best match of the night, Harper is expected to return to RAW soon and is rumoured to be Strowman’s first legitimate feud. His match against Zayn was a good way to shake off some ring rust.

5- Roman Reigns vs. Rusev (w/Lana) ( United States Championship match)
Roman Reigns put the United States title on the line against his perennial foe, Rusev in a match that has become a staple booking decision for the creative team. Reigns was quite over with the fans in Lima and gave the Roman Empire something to cheer about by beating Rusev. 7- Enzo Amore & Big Cass, The Golden Truth vs. The Shining Stars and Jinder Mahal & Curtis Axel

8- Sasha Banks vs. Charlotte (WWE RAW Women’s Championship)

9- Main Event: Seth Rollins vs. Kevin Owens (WWE Universal Championship match)
The two men who’re all set to meet at Hell In A Cell battled it out in front of the capacity crowd in Lima for the WWE Universal title. This was by far the match of the night that ended in a DQ. Kevin Owens gave Rollins a low blow, forcing the ref to call for the bell and declare The Architect as the victor. KO cut a promo after the match, but Rollins vented his frustrations out by cutting him off and laying him out with a Pedigree. A perfect end to a thoroughly entertaining show.
Points to note
- – Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, and Cesaro got the best pops of the night and were quite over with the fans. Not to forget, Sami Zayn too was quite over with the Peruvians.
- – Nia Jax looked very green in the ring and needs to pull up her socks if she aspires to rise up the ranks. She could be exposed once she’s taken out of her comfort zone of regular squashing and pitted against a legit name.
- – The crowd included a mix of casual fans and the ever so vocal smarks. CM Punk chants were also heard echoing around the arena more than once during the night.
- – WWE is making sure Strowman gets more in-ring time as Sin Cara put in some credible offense in the match.
