WWE Live Event from Montgomery: January 11, 2015
Thanks to WrestlingINC.com for sending in these results from last night's WWE live event in Montgomery, Alabama:
* Bad News Barrett opened the show with a promo about becoming the new IC champ. Dolph Ziggler was pulled from the Montgomery card after Monday's show. He issued an open challenge and said if anyone could beat him he'd give them an IC title shot "at a future date of my choosing." Kofi Kingston answered.
Good match between these two and the crowd was really into it. Barrett wound up for the Bull Hammer but Kofi countered with Trouble In Paradise for the win. He grabbed the mic before leaving and told Barrett not to make him wait too long for the title match.
* Next up was Los Matadores with El Torito vs. Titus O'Neil, David Otunga & Hornswoggle. O'Neil and Otunga worked pretty well together as a bruiser duo. Lots of flexing and posing by Otunga. It ended in a flurry of offense from Los Matadores, who picked up the win.
* Very short match between Fandango and Curtis Axel next. Fandango wins with a rollup after about 2 minutes.
* Break the walls down! Jericho comes out and the place comes UNGLUED. He cuts a great promo about how the Authority is back in charge, but other things haven't changed like the size of HHH's nose or the fact that Steph is still a brutal, disgusting, etc. He says maybe he should run WWE instead.
* Luke Harper interrupts and Y2J demands a match. They really go at it, lots of false finishes and some unique spots. Y2J wins with the Codebreaker then plays to the crowd for a while and takes selfies with some people at ringside on the way out.
* Bray Wyatt vs. Dean Ambrose next. Crowd chooses a 2 out of 3 falls match. Ambrose wins the first by DQ when Wyatt hits him with a kendo stick. He keeps wailing on him before the second fall starts. Wyatt wins the second fall with Sister Abigail. Some brawling around the ring before Ambrose wins the last fall with Dirty Deeds.
Intermission
* Paige vs. Natalya. They're playing up the whole frenemies angle like with Paige and AJ. They both hit their usual spots. Natalya kicks out of a Paige Turner and wins with a roll up. They hug after the match and leave together.
* Cesaro and Tyson Kidd, who were not promoted, make their way out for a triple threat tag team match. The Dust Bros next, and Stardust cuts a pretty funny promo telling the fans that it was just announced that Survivor Series is going to be in Montgomery next year, then saying he lied and they'd never come here.
New Day comes out to a big face response. Long, entertaining match. Xavier Woods serves as the punching bag for both of the other teams for the bulk of the match. Kidd and Cesaro hit some tag moves I've never seen on TV. Several false finishes before New Day wins with their top rope splash-Big Ending combo.
* Seth Rollins vs. John Cena in a street fight. Both guys took some pretty rough looking bumps. Both kicked out of each other's finisher. Rollins cuts a long mid-match promo about how he's tired of hearing "Let's go Cena". Cena eventually wins with a top-rope AA through a table.
