WWE Live Event Results: Cincinnati, Ohio (04/16/2017)

The Hardy Boyz continued their successful return last night in Cincinnati

The WWE Superstar Shake-up may have seen a number of Superstars move from RAW to SmackDown and vice-versa, but as of right now the house show rosters seem to be as they were before the draft last week. The RAW crew was in Cincinnati (Ohio) last night but a number of newly-christened SmackDown Live stars like Sami Zayn, Charlotte Flair and Kevin Owens were there too.

Here are the full live results from the WWE live event in The Blue Chip City.

#1 RAW Tag Team Championship: The Hardy Boyz [c] vs. Gallows & Anderson, Cesaro & Sheamus, Enzo & Big Cass

The Hardy Boyz continued their nostalgia-filled wave of momentum by defending their RAW Tag Team Championship in the opening match of the night. These four teams pretty much make up the entire RAW tag team division right now (Are the Golden Truth still a thing?), so expect to see many different variations of this match through the summer.

Result: The Hardy Boyz [c] def. Gallows & Anderson, Cesaro & Sheamus, Enzo & Big Cass

#2 Sami Zayn vs. Curtis Axel

In what will probably be his final match on a RAW show for a long time, Sami Zayn defeated Curtis Axel in the second match of the night. Zayn will be looking for a new start on the blue brand, whereas Axel continues to be rewarded for his hard work behind the scenes with an enhancement role and nothing more.

Result: Sami Zayn defeated Curtis Axel

#3 WWE Cruiserweight Championship: Neville [c] vs. Austin Aries

Neville and Austin Aries continued their tussle over the WWE Cruiserweight Championship in The Queen of the West, with The Man That Gravity Forgot once again picking up the win against A Double.

These two have put in a lot of hard work to get the division some credibility, and the arrival of Kalisto on RAW suggests good things lie ahead of the men between the purple ropes.

Result: Neville retained.

#4 Braun Strowman promo and Roman Reigns’ return

A rough landing for The Monster Among Men

The Monster Among Men came out next to cut a promo on the man he destroyed last Monday night on RAW. Braun Strowman told the Cincinnati crowd that Roman Reigns was not cleared to compete, but The Big Dog soon came out to face off against Strowman. Reigns was bandaged up, selling the effects of Strowman’s attack last week, but was still able to get the upper hand and put Strowman through a table.

In theory this was to please the crowd, but The Big Dog continues to get negative crowd reactions all over the country.

#5 RAW Women’s Championship: Bayley [c] vs. Charlotte Flair, Sasha Banks, Nia Jax

A repeat of the WrestleMania 33 fatal 4-way saw Bayley once again defend the RAW Women’s Championship against Charlotte Flair, Sasha Banks and Nia Jax. With Alexa Bliss and Mickie James now on RAW this group of ladies will thankfully go their separate ways, and the flagship show’s females can finally get some fresh stories and matches.

Bayley continues as champion, much to the delight of the Cincinnati crowd.

Result: Bayley [c] def. Charlotte Flair, Sasha Banks, Nia Jax

#6 Big Show vs. Jinder Mahal & Titus O’Neil

How different would Titus O’Neill’s career look if he hadn’t pulled Vince McMahon back on live TV over a year ago?

The big man is widely considered to be one of the nicest guys outside of the ring who is a dream to work with in the various community projects that WWE is involved in, yet his on-screen character is little more than a joke. Titus and Jinder fell to Big Show in a handicap match last night, in what was effectively the semi-main event.

Result: Big Show def. Jinder Mahal & Titus O’Neil

#7 Seth Rollins & Chris Jericho vs. WWE United States Champion Kevin Owens & Samoa Joe

The main event of the evening saw Seth Rollins and Chris Jericho team up to take on the duo of Samoa Joe and the WWE United States Champion Kevin Owens, with Y2J and The Kingslayer pulling out the win to send the crowd home happy.

This match represents Owens’ last on the RAW brand and his last with Joe as a tag partner, ending the Triple H-inspired faction that barely managed to get off the ground.
