WWE may have subtly revealed the mastermind behind the rift between Kevin Owens and Cody Rhodes
The tensions between Kevin Owens and Cody Rhodes escalated this week on SmackDown, hinting at a potential feud between these two shortly. In the main event, The Bloodline once again won over the team of The Viper and The Prizefighter.
Initially, Cody Rhodes proposed a Six Man Tag Team match for the main event. Kevin Owens immediately rejected the idea. He challenged Solo Sikoa and Jacob Fatu to a traditional tag match against him and Orton on the show. Following the match, Owens and Rhodes had a brief altercation before The Viper calmed things down.
The fallout between Rhodes and Owens could be Randy Orton’s masterplan
Fans have spotted an interesting clue dropped during the Friday Night Show, which points to Randy Orton as the mastermind behind the rift between Owens and Rhodes. During the locker room segment, The Prizefighter asked The American Nightmare to stay out of their bout. But Rhodes ran out to help them when Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa tried to interfere.
Tonga Loa threw Cody Rhodes into the ring to knock the referee out, and Solo Sikoa took advantage of this and pinned Owens to win the match. The Prizefighter was extremely upset with Rhodes coming out, but The American Nightmare did not come out uninvited. After KO left the locker room, Orton asked him to have their back if they got outnumbered by The Bloodline.
The Viper told Cody Rhodes that he would talk to Kevin Owens about it, but it looked like KO didn't know.
Cody Rhodes might face Kevin Owens at Crown Jewel 2024
Kevin Owens is at the breaking point of almost turning heel on Cody Rhodes and starting a heated feud with the Undisputed WWE Champion. KO and The American Nightmare locked horns at Bash in Berlin in 2024 in a title bout.
Even after a powerful performance, the 40-year-old was unable to find his ruthless self in the match, which eventually cost him his chance to win the gold. However, it now seems that KO is close to unlocking his old version, and he could turn on Cody Rhodes before Crown Jewel 2024.
Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens could then lock horns at Crown Jewel 2024. Additionally, their feud could also play a vital role in shaping Orton vs. Rhodes in the future.
Cody Rhodes teaming up with Roman Reigns will make him new enemies
The Bloodline has been terrorizing the roster for months. Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns have now agreed to join forces to take on Solo Sikoa and Jacob Fatu. Now, The American Nightmare is looking to end the chapter of the faction once and for all.
Last week on SmackDown, WWE showcased a cinematic segment between The OTC and The American Nightmare, where they met on the Georgia Tech field to settle their differences. The arch-rivals agreed on having each other’s back for their match.
The American Nightmare teaming with Roman Reigns might land him in trouble, and he could end up making new foes. The Stamford-based promotion has already showcased rising tension between Rhodes and Owens since the tag match was announced for the PLE next month. Randy Orton was also upset with his former faction mate for aligning himself with the former leader of Bloodline.
Rhodes may make new enemies and get into some major rivalries that could keep him busy and packed for a long time. It will be interesting to watch how things turn out and if Orton indeed emerges as the mastermind behind all the misunderstandings.
