WWE may have subtly spoilt the result of a key world title match at the 2024 Draft

WWE may have subtly spoilt the outcome for one of their key world championship matches at Backlash 2024. A certain action taken during the Draft leads us to believe this.

The match in question is none other than the main event of Backlash: France, where Cody Rhodes will defend the Undisputed WWE Championship against The Phenomenal One, AJ Styles.

While Cody Rhodes wasn't drafted due to his protected status as champion, AJ Styles is staying on SmackDown. The problem? He was drafted in the fourth round - a huge sign of WWE neglecting his current position as world title challenger and essentially spoiling the result of the Backlash 2024 main event.

Of course, it should be mentioned that virtually everybody expects AJ Styles to lose against Cody Rhodes in the main event of Backlash: France. Normally, Backlash isn't a show where world championships are known to change hands.

Backlash has almost always been the first premium live event post-WrestleMania, so the idea is to establish the challenger anyway. While there's no doubt that Styles' status within the company has fallen a bit in the last five years, he is still a respected veteran and a Grand Slam Champion.

Considering how many stars were announced as staying on their previous shows, it's a bit weird that the company opted to draft Styles so late.
