WWE/MMA News: Miesha Tate open to working for the WWE
What’s the story?
During a recent appearance on SiriusXM radio, former UFC Bantamweight Champion Miesha Tate claimed that she is currently open to the idea of working for the WWE.
In case you didn’t know
Considered as one of the pioneers of women’s MMA along with her biggest rival Ronda Rousey, Miesha Tate is a former UFC and Strikeforce Bantamweight Champion. Her rivalry with Ronda Rousey dates way back to their Strikeforce days when Tate initially challenged Rousey for the Strikeforce Bantamweight Championship.
Following Strikeforce’s fold in 2013, Tate and Rousey competed for a second time, this time under the UFC banner in an epic rematch with the UFC Bantamweight Title on the line. However, much like the first time Rousey once again defeated Tate via submission to retain the Bantamweight Title.
The heart of the matter
Former UFC star and one-time Bantamweight Champion Miesha Tate is apparently considering making a jump to the world of Pro Wrestling from Mixed Martial Arts, as she has claimed that she is very much open to working for the world's biggest wrestling company, that is, the WWE. Last year, Tate spoke to Fox Sports about the possibility of working under the WWE:
“I would love to. It would be fun. I would love to. I’m open to all kinds of things like that. It would be a lot of fun.”
However, despite being open to appearing in WWE, during a recent interview with SiriusXM radio, Miesha has claimed that if she isn't too interested in working a program with her long-term rival Ronda Rousey in the WWE, but, might put a thought to the idea if WWE decides to offer her a genuine amount of money.
“That’s one thing I’ve always had in my favor is that I’ve always been able to be the bigger person, like get over it. I’m never going to like Ronda but I don’t hate her. I don’t have to be unprofessional. I could sit in the same room with her. I could put it aside, I can be professional so I know I could get the job done, but I wouldn’t want to have to hang out with Ronda and work on choreography and act like we don’t like each other cause that’s not the case.- Miesha Tate on possibly working with Rousey in WWE.
What’s next?
As noted last week, Ronda Rousey made her much-awaited WWE debut appearing at the Royal Rumble PPV. However, fans now await for ‘Rowdy’ Ronda Rousey’s in-ring return in WWE. Meanwhile, there hasn’t been any further proof of what the future holds for Miesha Tate in the wrestling business. Judging by Miesha's comments it seems like she is currently not too keen on getting into any sort of altercation with Ronda Rousey inside the squared circle.
Author’s Take
Miesha Tate will surely be another marquee addition to the WWE roster and I personally believe that following her retirement from MMA in 2016, Tate is likely to have a solid career in the world of pro wrestling.
