WWE Monday Night Raw: 24 February, 2014- Superstar Ratings
Finally, the WWE started showing signs of being on the road to WrestleMania after pulling off a Monday night Raw which was full of talking points.
After a long long layoff The Undertaker was back in the ring doing what he does best while Brock Lesnar unsurprisingly was on the receiving end. And though Hogan’s return didn’t create as much of a buzz as expected, a brief moment of nostalgia was well worked by the creative team.
Apart from these big returns what stole the show was the challenge issued by Daniel Bryan to Triple H after dispatching Kane. The flying goat seems destined to face the COO of the company at WrestleMania which has the looks of an instant classic.
Elsewhere, Wyatt Family took out John Cena again while the show signed off with a potential future WrestleMania main event in the form of a Roman Reigns- Bray Wyatt match up.
It wasn’t just another night for the WWE Universe as they finally saw WrestleMania shaping up in some form. So let’s take a look at how the superstars made their impact amidst all the chaos.
Batista- 4
The Animal failed to click with the fans once again this week when he was put in a rematch with Alberto Del Rio.
Not only did Batista lose the match, he exposed his flaws every now and then with a super kick that didn’t even connect being one of the lowest points. The WWE still seems confused on what they should do with him as the fans clearly are calling for a heel turn.
Randy Orton- 5
One must be still wondering why Orton was given a night off when he simply did nothing inside the Elimination Chamber than stealing a win off Daniel Bryan. His only involvement in the show came when he came out to taunt Batista during his match against Del Rio.
Orton mentioning about the fans jeering Batista was a nice touch but the feud between these two carries least heat as possible and will be a disaster at WrestleMania is WWE doesn’t pull out the rabbit from the hat.
New Age Outlaws – 5
The tag team champions got the upper hand at the Elimination Chamber against the Usos but failed to follow up on the night which followed.
Another loss to the Usos puts them back into a precarious situation and could find them forced to defend the title sooner or later. The nature of their loss wasn’t very grace full as well leaving the degenerates with a rating of 5.
Hulk Hogan- 5
Though the return was highly anticipated, it failed to live up to the expectations as the WWE Network promotions didn’t go well with the nostalgic emotions of the fans.
JBL, Michael Cole and Jerry Lawyer did their best to put Hogan over but instead of making an impact by doing something big, Hogan was projected like an old man who went into the ring to talk about the company’s latest ventures.
Alberto Del Rio – 6
Before the return of Batista, Many thought that Del Rio would just be confined to a squash opponent for the returning animal but things turned out different when Batista finally made his return.
The Mexican was actually getting a lot of love from the crowd in the two matches that he had against Batista and a win on Raw puts Del Rio in a great position to demand a good storyline that will take him through to WrestleMania.
Big E Langston- 6
The Intercontinental champion after getting a good win over Swagger at Elimination Chamber was literally over shadowed by Cesaro on Monday.
Big E won the match due to disqualification but we all knew where it would’ve went if Swagger didn’t dig his nose into the proceedings. This was the first time since his title win that a contender looked vicious against Big E and maybe the champion has finally met his match.
John Cena- 6
Instead of bringing out Cena and addressing the Wyatt Family’s involvement at Elimination Chamber, the WWE used Cena for the promotion of their Network before getting into the topic.
The attack angle which followed had some intriguing action as well and opened up the door for an exciting clash between the Cenation leader and Bray Wyatt. Cena looked well as a wounded victim and expect him to strike back hard once the chance arrives.
