Randy Orton

Money in the Bank 2013 in Philadelphia was bound to be an epic PPV event. Right from the start there was intense action that met the hype that surrounded the event. Here’re the results of the matches at the PPV; find out if your favourite wrestler managed to come out victorious.

Pre-Show

The Shield (Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns) vs The Usos (WWE Tag Team Titles)

Excellent match to start off the night as both these teams looked excellent. The Usos managed to keep the inevitable at bay for quite sometime, but Roman Reigns finally hit the spear for the victory.

Winner: Still the WWE Tag Team Champions, The Shield (Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns)

MITB 2013 kicks off

Money in the Bank Ladder Match for a Shot at the the World Heavyweight Title: Fandango vs Dean Ambrose vs Jack Swagger vs Antonio Cesaro vs Cody Rhodes vs Damien Sandow vs Wade Barrett

Despite the fact that this match didn’t have a lot of star studded names in it, it didn’t fail to deliver. The ‘this is awesome’ chants from fans inside the arena were proof enough for that.

The Shield made a desperate attempt to make Ambrose win the briefcase and The Usos came to the rescue as they, along with Barrett, managed to put the Shield away. Cody was in for a shocker as he was shoved aside by Sandow while going for the briefcase as Sandow then managed to take the case for himself.

Winner: Damien Sandow

Curtis Axel vs The Miz (Intercontinental Title)

A decent match that didn’t take a lot of time to end. Axel and Miz looked solid, and there was enough back and forth action to keep us interested. Axel dropped Miz on his head after a kick to the face for the victory.

Winner: Still Intercontinental Champion Curtis Axel

AJ Lee vs Kaitlyn (Divas Title)

Short as usual, the Divas match that started off with Kaitlyn under control. Big E Langston accompanied AJ while Layla was with Kaitlyn. AJ connected the Black Widow out of nowhere as Kaitlyn tapped out.

Winner: Still Divas Champion AJ Lee

Chris Jericho vs Ryback

Ryback’s future as a top WWE star was dependent on this match, and a victory here would mean positive signs.

Things didn’t start well as Jericho took up the offence with chops as Ryback rolled out. Ryback didn’t look too dominating but made enough damage when on the offence initially.

As the match progressed, Ryback seemed in control as Jericho’s attempts of comeback were thwarted one after the other. After an excellently modified codebreaker on the ropes that nearly counted out Ryback, Jericho missed a lionsault and Ryback rolled Jericho for the pin.

Winner: Ryback

Alberto Del Rio vs Dolph Ziggler (World Heavyweight Title)

Del Rio’s entrance looked duller than ever as Ricardo Rodriguez was absent due to suspension. The match involved a lot of back and forth action as there were several moments of awe in it. The end was disappointing as Ziggler got disqualified after AJ Lee hit Del Rio with the Divas Title.

Anyway, the Ziggler and AJ Lee split seems to become more and more prominent.

Winner: Still World Heavyweight Champion Alberto Del Rio

John Cena vs Mark Henry (WWE Title)

Cena was welcomed to the ring with huge boos as the Philly crowd looked hostile. The match was a typical Super Cena show where Cena managed to kick out of the World’s Strongest Slam and a huge low blow that the referee didn’t see.

After several back and forth action, Henry was locked in the STF and pulled to the centre of the ring and made to tap out.

Winner: Still WWE Champion John Cena

Money in the Bank Ladder Match for a Shot at the WWE Title: Rob Van Dam vs Christian vs Daniel Bryan vs Randy Orton vs. Sheamus vs CM Punk

This was the most anticipated match, mainly because it meant the return of RVD.

The crowd chanted RVD as the other 5 superstars were staring at him. They beat RVD down and threw him out of the ring. The 5 other superstars went against each other then.

After a lot of action, Curtis Axel comes out to hit Bryan with the ladder and his finisher. CM Punk hit the GTS on Axel and went for the case.

Heyman rubbished Axel’s action and cheered for Punk as he slowly made it to the top. Heyman then hit Punk with a ladder and connected another one to the head as Punk was down and out.

RVD managed to climb to the top and Orton pulled him back and connected a mid-air RKO. Orton climbed up as everyone was down and got the briefcase.

Winner: Randy Orton
