WWE Rumours: New details on backstage plans for the Cruiserweight Division

WWE pleased its fans to the core when they confirmed the rumors of bringing back the Cruiserweight Division as an exclusive part of Monday Night Raw during the first post-draft episode of the show.

Although, after more than 3 weeks of the exciting announcement, we are still standing at the same place as we were on the night of the revelation in terms of official details on the high flying division.

WWE has neither revealed much information on it nor has it announced any possible names to join the upcoming division. Till now, we have only seen some video packages on Raw promoting the division.

However, thanks to Daily Wrestling News, we now have some more details on what WWE is planning for the division and when can we expect its debut on WWE TV.

According to the site, the current plans are to introduce the division to audience sometime in the month of September. Since SmackDown will be airing their first Brand Exclusive PPV Backlash on September 11th, It's most likely that officials would plan the debut of the Cruiserweight Division once the PPV wraps up in order to keep the focus on it.

As we reported before, the plans also call to re-introduce the coveted Cruiserweight Championship along with the reinstated division. The rumors go as far as saying that the winner of the ongoing Cruiserweight Classic tournament can be rewarded with the title at CWC Finals on September 14th, making him the first champion in the New Era.

As far as the rumors of possible candidates joining the Division go, Kota Ibushi is a name who is said to be a top choice, and it has been said in the past that Triple H himself is keen on signing him on a full-time basis.

Although the former NJPW star is currently said to be working with WWE on per appearance basis. He is scheduled to make an appearance for the company during the SummerSlam weekend and is likely to be a part of NXT Takeover: Back To Brooklyn event.

Allegedly, they have also offered various deals to many of the talents working at CWC tournament. The offered contract varies from full-time deals to development contracts of NXT.

Based on this week's episode of CWC on WWE Network, fans are assuming that Cedric Alexander has been offered a contract by the company. Other possible names include the likes of TJ Perkins, Noam Dar, Akira Tozawa and Zack Sabre Jr.
