WWE News: 2K officials considering Kurt Angle to be the special addition of WWE 2K18
Over the past several years we have seen the WWE 2K video game series helping WWE to build and rebuild broken relationships with Legends in order to promote the yearly launched video games.
Now it looks like former WWE World heavyweight Champion Kurt Angle could be next in line in the list of WWE legends who have returned with the company in some capacity to fulfill the needs of promoting the 2K video games.
During the recent episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer was asked if 2K officials are considering to make the former WWE superstar the special attraction for the 2018 version of the video game which is supposed to be launched next year.
In reply, the man who is known to have sources inside WWE said: “the answer to that question is yes.” after a long meaningful pause.
Now if we look at the history of the games released in the WWE 2K game series so far, then we can say that it is more than a sign that this could lead to Angle returning to WWE sometime within the next year.
First, 2K chose WWE Legend Ultimate Warrior as a special addition to the 2014 version of the video game which allegedly led to his return via a Hall of Fame induction for the former World Champion. According to many, it did not seem possible otherwise because of the way Warrior left WWE in 1996 in the middle of a contract dispute.
Next year it was revealed that former WCW Star 'The Icon' Sting will be the pre-order bonus for the 2nd edition of WWE 2K video game which is said to be one of the main reasons why WWE signed the WCW veteran after 13 long years since WCW packed up.
Now this year the video game company made none other than the former WCW and WWE Superstar Bill Goldberg the special bonus for the fans. While he has not made a televised return for the company yet, the man himself has expressed his interest in doing so and is still heavily rumored to face Brock Lesnar at this year's WrestleMania.
Considering all these factors and the fact that Angle himself has shown interest in coming back on a part-time basis, it looks very much possible that WWE would agree to his terms and would allow the WWE veteran to come back as a part-time member of the roster.
It would also be a fitting deal for the company as Kurt who will hardly make a full-time active roster member due to his age and other factors, could be used as a special attraction for the game and would also be a fitting match for being inducted into the 2018 class of Hall of Fame after wrestling a couple of matches before finally calling it a career.
What really happens is a mystery that would only be resolved when the time of the launch of WWE 2K18 comes around, but for now, the possibilities of seeing Kurt Angle on WWE TV once again after his departure in 2006 are looking stronger than ever and all the odds are looking to be in his favor.
