WWE News: 7ft 3in Superstar debuts at NXT live event [VIDEO]
What's the story?
Jordan Omogbehin, a 7ft 3in former basketball player, won his first match as a WWE NXT Superstar at a live event in Lakeland, Florida on July 18.
In case you didn't know…
In October 2018, WWE announced that the following seven names had reported to the company’s Performance Center in Orlando, Florida: Matt Riddle, Mia Yim, Chelsea Green, Humberto Carrillo, Luis Martinez, Daniel Vidot and Jordan Omogbehin.
While the experienced Riddle and Yim were relatively well-known to fans before their arrivals, it was Omogbehin who really stood out in the picture of the new signees on WWE’s website.
Originally from Lagos, Nigeria, Omogbehin played college basketball at the University of South Florida and Morgan State University in Baltimore before swapping the court for the squared circle last year.
The heart of the matter
Competing in his first official match since signing with WWE, Jordan Omogbehin defeated unknown duo Team 3.0 in a 2-on-1 handicap match at an NXT live event at the Lakeland Armory on Thursday.
The debutant, managed by Court Moore (fka Stokely Hathaway), quickly destroyed his two opponents in one of the quickest matches of the night.
Standing at 2.21m, the Nigerian is taller than The Big Show (2.13m) and The Great Khali (2.16m) but not quite as big as Andre The Giant (2.24m) or the tallest WWE Superstar in history, Giant Gonzalez (2.31m).
What's next?
NXT Superstars often compete at dozens of live events before making it onto television, so do not expect to see Jordan Omogbehin on weekly programming at any point in the near future.
Long-term, it will be very interesting to see what the future holds for the tallest WWE Superstar in over 25 years!
