What’s the story?

At the recent WWE Live event in Osaka, Japan, AJ Styles returned to the place where he legitimized himself as one of the biggest stars in wrestling.

AJ defended the US Title against Baron Corbin at the show, but it was during his entrance a big change was seemed to be noticed by everyone. With the championship around his waist, the "Phenomenal One" came out by sporting a mask for the first time in WWE. Here is a picture of AJ Styles with his new mask.

In case you didn’t know…

Earlier this week, WWE Smackdown Live superstars were back in Osaka, Japan for a live event.

The show featured the likes of Baron Corbin, Randy Orton, Charlotte Flair and a returning Asuka, Shinsuke Nakamura and AJ Styles. The Japanese crowd also got to witness a very solid card as Orton faced Rusev in a last man standing match; Styles defeated Corbin to retain the U.S Title and the main event featured Jinder defending the WWE title against Nakamura.

The heart of the matter

During his entrance at the show, AJ Styles came out to his theme song, wearing a mask. For all those who didn’t know, Styles used a Bullet Club themed mask during his entrance at Wrestle Kingdom 10 when he faced Shinsuke Nakamura. Adding the mask to AJ’s entrance is a nice touch, and it lends more to his character.

The interesting part, however, is the logo the mask was based on. The mask was based on the logo of The Club, a faction that consisted of AJ Styles, Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows.

Later that year, the stable was separated during the draft but the members still have not officially disbanded.

What’s next?

Gallows and Anderson have failed miserably on Raw in recent months. Could they move to SmackDown and reunite with Styles?

As of now, Style is the current US champion and will once again defend the belt against “The Lone Wolf” on the next episode of Smackdown Live.

Author’s take

Personally, I believe AJ Styles should come out with the mask more often but not on every weekly TV episode. WWE should make him wear it only at special events and PPVs much like Finn Balor’s demon paint.
