AJ Styles says Ronda Rousey will be the next Kurt Angle

What’s the story?

While recently speaking with TMZ, WWE Champion AJ Styles was asked about WWE’s latest signing Ronda Rousey and her chances of gaining mainstream success in the world of pro-wrestling.

In case you didn’t know…

MMA veteran and former UFC Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey made her much anticipated WWE debut last month at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view when she was involved in a confrontation with Raw Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss, Smackdown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair, and the winner of the first ever Women’s Royal Rumble match Asuka.

The heart of the matter

While speaking with TMZ, AJ Styles compared Ronda Rousey with former WWE World Champion and current GM of Raw Kurt Angle and how he went straight to peak of the mountain in the WWE, once he made the switch from being a wrestler in the Olympics to being a wrestler in the WWE.

“Let me tell you about someone who came in kinda like Ronda did and learned *snaps fingers* like that. Kurt Angle! I don’t know if you remember Kurt coming in like that and went straight to the top.”- AJ Styles stated.

Additionally, Styles also elucidated that Ronda Rousey has already gained the recognition and name among the mainstream public and she is an athlete who has the capability of adapting very quickly on how things are usually done in the world of Professional Wrestling.

Furthermore, “The Phenomenal One” also labeled Rousey as a quick learner and stated that the former UFC Bantamweight Champion will eventually be up there with the likes of Kurt Angle and everyone else who has been inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame so far.

What’s next?

Ronda Rousey, however, is yet to make her in-ring debut for the WWE and apparently it looks like we will not be seeing the former UFC star step into the squared circle until WrestleMania 34 in New Orleans later this year.

Meanwhile, as for AJ Styles, his next WWE Title defense will take place at this year’s Fastlane PPV, when he puts the championship belt on the line against Sami Zayn, Kevin Owens, and either Dolph Ziggler or Baron Corbin in a fatal four-way match.

Author’s take

Ronda Rousey already has gained the popularity of the mainstream public, thanks to her work in the world of Mixed Martial Arts and I believe that the former UFC 135-pound champion will eventually gain the popularity within the WWE Universe.
