What's the story?

Following his defeat to Daniel Bryan, AJ Styles was pulled out of the Mixed Match Challenge match that was to take place after SmackDown Live.

Styles had teamed with former SmackDown women's champion Charlotte Flair in the Mixed Match Challenge, and were undefeated, winning both their matches.

In case you didn't know...

On this week's SmackDown, we saw several matches for Survivor Series being changed due to injury or just a change in the match card.

WWE announced that Becky Lynch had sustained an injury following the brawl on RAW and that she will not face Ronda Rousey at Survivor Series. She handpicked Charlotte Flair to face Rousey at the show on Sunday. Daniel Bryan was then removed from Team SmackDown for the show, and replaced by Jeff Hardy.

The heart of the matter

The final match of the Survivor Series go-home show was Bryan taking on Styles for the WWE Championship. After the referee was knocked down, Bryan low-blowed Styles to get the win and become the WWE Champion.

He then assaulted Styles after the match, turning heel. Styles, who was to be a part of the Mixed Match Challenge, was said to be injured and was replaced by Jeff Hardy. Hardy and Charlotte got the win in the match, making it three wins for the team of Charlotte-Styles/Hardy.

The finals of the Mixed Match Challenge will take place at TLC, and the winners will both get a spot in their respective Royal Rumbles and come in at #30.

WWE may have put the title on Bryan to give Styles some time off, or maybe recover from a legitimate injury.

What's next?

Survivor Series takes place this Sunday, and will see Brock Lesnar face Daniel Bryan, which will be one of the marquee matches of the show.
