WWE News: AJ Styles names Shawn Michaels and Ric Flair greatest of all time

AJ Styles is the new WWE World Champion

AJ Styles was on  SportsCenter s Off The Top Rope hosted by Jonathan Coachman. In the brief interview, he spoke about winning the WWE World Championship, facing John Cena, and his future in WWE. Coachman first asked him about winning the WWE World Championship. Styles said that he has won titles everywhere but this was the one title that eluded him. He went on to state that he is the face that runs the place and added that the winners find a way to get things done, no matter how.

Styles started off by saying that he was ready for a long time and that the timing was right. He also said that he established who he was from the get-go, and proved that he belonged in the top of the card, along with the likes of Reigns, Ambrose, and Cena. He said that everywhere he went, even if people told him he was not the guy, he found a way to be the guy. Whatever inkling of doubt that he has had, it all goes away when he steps foot in the ring.

When asked where the title win ranks in his career, Styles said that it was the highest, because it is the championship that every wrestler wants to hold. Styles also said that WWE is a global company and not just a wrestling company. Regarding his match with Cena at Summerslam, Styles said that he knew going in that it was going to be something special. Styles proclaimed the match as a classic and praised Cena for delivering in the match.

Coachman then asked Styles on who he believes is the greatest WWE World Champion of all time. Styles said that it was hard to say, but mentioned the likes of Shawn Michaels and Ric Flair. He said that he first needs to put a stamp on his World Championship reign before being able to compare himself to past great champions.

Coachman ended by asking him about his future in the WWE, to which Styles responded by simply saying anything he wants because winners get anything they want.

Styles seemed to have none his heel persona during the interview. Nonetheless, he sounds extremely confident, more than he did in the beginning of his WWE run. It looks like the plan is for Styles to lead the Smackdown Live brand for the foreseeable future.
