WWE News: AJ Styles reveals that WWE did not want to sign Gallows or Anderson
What's the story?
AJ Styles was a guest on the Lilian Garcia Podcast recently. It was during his conversation with her, that he said that WWE did not originally want to sign Gallows or Anderson, currently known as 'The Club' until he insisted that they do so.
The news broke on Reddit recently. It has become the subject of much conversation, ever since.
In case you didn't know...
AJ Styles, Gallows and Anderson were all huge stars in New Japan Pro Wrestling before they arrived in WWE. They were all part of the heel faction known as the Bullet Club, a unit that took the wrestling world by storm since its very inception.
AJ Styles made his debut at the Royal Rumble two years ago and was soon followed by Gallows and Anderson. The trio also teamed up, off and on, most notably when they unanimously decided to 'Beat Up John Cena'.
The heart of the matter
AJ Styles' stock in the wrestling industry is far greater than that of the other two gentlemen. Known as the face of TNA for many years, Styles was the hottest free agent in the independent circuit to not have signed with WWE until 2016.
Gallows had previously had a run with WWE both as Festus and as a part of the Straight Edge Society. It is not hard to imagine why AJ Styles would be the preferred performer that WWE would want among the three men. Thankfully, Styles wanted these two men to come in, and WWE finally relented, at AJ Styles' insistence.
What's next?
AJ Styles squares off against Shinsuke Nakamura at WrestleMania 34, in a legendary match for the ages. Gallows and Anderson will probably be in the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal. In all likelihood, the two men will lose the match.
Author's take
AJ Styles is the Shawn Michaels of our generation. Gallows and Anderson sadly aren't 'The Rockers' of our generation.
Therefore, there will always be a disparity in demand between the two.
