WWE News: AJ Styles set to make comic book writing debut
What's the story?
According to flickeringmyth.com, BOOM! Studios have announced that AJ Styles is set to make his comic writing debut very soon, where he will be co-writing the WWE Royal Rumble 2018 Special, a one-shot comic.
In case you didn't know...
AJ Styles made his debut at Royal Rumble 2016 and has had a storied career since then. He had a match the following year at the Royal Rumble, where he defended the WWE Championship against John Cena in what will go down as an all-time classic.
Although Cena did walk away with the victory, AJ didn't look bad in defeat and it only further helped to cement his babyface turn which he would make on the SmackDown Live episode after WrestleMania.
The great part is that AJ Styles left such an impact in such little time it feels like he has been a top star in WWE for much longer than just 21 months. He's set to approach his 2 year anniversary next year in January 24th. Royal Rumble 2018 takes place 4 days after that at Philadelphia.
The heart of the matter
AJ Styles will be teaming up with Michael Kingston from Headlocked to tell AJ Styles' phenomenal WWE debut. Kingston said the following about their upcoming collaboration.
AJ and I are friends and we have similar creative mindsets, so working with him is a breeze. We collaborated on a story for Headlocked that was a lot of fun, so when the opportunity to work together again arose, it was really a no-brainer.
Chris Rosa, Associate Editor, BOOM! Studios said the following about the upcoming special:
The WWE Specials provide an all-star team of creators the opportunity to explore WWE’s greatest moments, and WWE Royal Rumble 2018 Special will take things to a phenomenal level with the addition of a story written by AJ Styles,” stated
Hopefully this comic is capped off with a historic moment at the Royal Rumble. Perhaps a Royal Rumble match victory? That would definitely be one hell of a moment for The Phenomenal One.
What's next?
AJ Styles seems to be heading for a Triple Threat feud against Tye Dillinger and Baron Corbin. It's most likely that he will end up retaining the title at Hell In A Cell.
Author's Take
AJ co-writing a comic short should be really cool. It'll be great to see his take and influence on his Phenomenal career in WWE in the comic world.
This one looks to be a must-buy for fans of WWE and AJ Styles in general!
