WWE News: AJ Styles takes a shot at his former promotion TNA/Impact Wrestling
What's the story?
Former WWE Champion AJ Styles is currently preparing for his upcoming Universal Championship match against Seth Rollins. However, in the build-up to the MITB event, Styles has taken a shot at his former company TNA (now known as Impact Wrestling).
In case you didn't know...
Having initially started out on the Independent Circuit in the late 90s, AJ Styles eventually made a name for himself under TNA when he signed a non-exclusive contract with the company.
During his tenure under TNA, Styles won most of TNA's active titles, as he captured the TNA TV Title, TNA World Tag Team Titles, and the TNA World Heavyweight Championship all on two different occasions.
'The Phenomenal One' eventually departed from TNA in 2014 after the contract negotiations between Styles and TNA eventually broke down with the former TNA World Heavyweight Champion eventually becoming a free-agent and ending his 12-year association with the company.
The heart of the matter
Following his departure from TNA in 2014, AJ Styles competed for both NJPW and ROH before eventually signing a deal with the WWE in 2016. Styles, now a former two-time WWE Champion, recently took to Twitter and mocked his old company over a shirt that was once made for him.
A fan recently tweeted out to Styles asking him about an infamous "jizz t-shirt", to which 'The Phenomenal One' responded by saying that it was basically the worst idea TNA ever came up with.
This isn't the only time Styles has taken a subtle jab at TNA, as he previously also mocked his former company by taking a shot at them on Twitter in a now-deleted tweet.
What's next?
AJ Styles is currently preparing for his upcoming Universal Title match against Seth Rollins after being drafted over to the red brand. Styles will be challenging for the the title for the first time, as he prepares to go one-on-one against 'The Architect' at the Money in the Bank pay-per-view later this month.
