What's the story?

During a recent interview with WWE, current WWE Champion AJ Styles discussed the recent Hall of Fame induction of his former TNA executive Jeff Jarrett, his influence in Styles' career, and their time together in the Bullet Club.

In case you didn't know…

During his time with TNA Wrestling, AJ Styles was considered one of the homegrown superstars of the promotion where he was hugely assisted by then TNA boss Jeff Jarrett. The two men also had a brief stint alongside one another in New Japan Pro Wrestling in 2014, when Jarrett’s promotion GFW had inked a working agreement with NJPW - which eventually led to Styles teaming up with Jarrett as part of the Bullet Club faction.

The heart of the matter

While speaking with the WWE interviewer, Styles stated that he was really excited and happy when he first heard the news of Jeff Jarrett’s Hall of Fame induction. Styles said that throughout his career, he had the opportunity to work with Jeff a lot and got to know him on a personal level too. Styles added that after everything Jeff has done for him during his career, he can't help but be both excited and proud of his impending induction into the Hall of Fame.

Additionally, Styles also spoke about Jarrett’s influence in his career as well as other whom Jarrett has helped during his time with TNA. AJ stated that there are other superstars in the WWE who 'Double J' has helped a lot, including the likes of Bobby Roode, Luke Gallows, R-Truth and even Road Dogg.

"There are so many people don't even know that he's helped and definitely I am one of them," Styles stated.

Furthermore, the WWE Champion also gave a brief about their time together with a "certain club", referring to the Bullet Club in Japan. Styles continued, saying that the pair had plenty of fun during their ventures in Asia.

What's next?

Jeff Jarrett's HOF Induction will take place on the 6th of April at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans. Meanwhile, AJ Styles' next challenge will be to defend his WWE Title at the upcoming Fastlane PPV as "The Phenomenal One" gets ready to defend his championship in a five-way match against Sami Zayn, Kevin Owens, Baron Corbin and Dolph Ziggler.

Author's take

It is undeniable that Styles and Jarrett's time together in TNA and NJPW was indeed a strong bond and I personally enjoyed their partnership in the Bullet Club, where 'Double J' somewhat played the role of Styles' manager.
