What’s the story?

Former WWF superstar Al Snow recently gave his take on the Shield reunion that took place this past week on Raw, via his latest advice column. Snow posted his thoughts on Sports Illustrated’s advice column and said that there may be multiple reasons why WWE decided to bring The Shield back earlier this week.

In case you didn’t know…

Al Snow is a former WWF superstar, who was first signed by the company back in 1995. After spending two years in the company, Snow moved to ECW where he found a good amount of success and also competed for the ECW Heavyweight Title.

The six-time WWF Hardcore Champion then made a return to WWE in 1998 and managed to win various championships such as the European title, the tag titles with Mankind and also the Hardcore Title.

What’s the story?

Recently Al Snow posted on his advice column on Sports Illustrated where he said that he finds the Shield reunion interesting but believes that there has to be a purpose behind the decision.

Snow thinks that there are two obvious reasons why the trio was brought back together, one of them being helping Roman Reigns get over with the audience. The former Hardcore champion thinks that “The Big Dog” has finally started to receive positive reactions from the crowd in recent weeks and says that the reunion of The Shield will help him furthermore.

Snow then went on to give a brief explanation regarding the terms “getting over with the audience” and “heel heat”.

“Remember, the term ‘get over’ means the audience wants to live vicariously through a babyface, and that is absolutely essential. If it isn’t done, he’ll never garner heat, which is also misunderstood. ‘Heat’ is not a heel’s offense; it is a want, a need, a desire to build within the audience that builds to frustration, and even anger,” said Snow.

He later added that another reason why the Shield reunion was rushed was to pair Rollins and Ambrose with Reigns, in order to get the duo over with the audience. However, Snow believes that the current Raw Tag Team Champions are over with the WWE Universe in their own way.

What’s next?

The recently reunited Shield is all set to make faceoff against the team of The Miz, Cesaro & Sheamus and Braun Strowman at the upcoming Raw pay-per-view TLC.

Fans are still not sure how long this reunion will last, but it is likely that we are going to see the trio cause massive destruction on the red brand at least till the end of the year.

Author’s take

Personally, I agree with Al Snow’s comments on WWE trying to get Roman Reigns get over with the audience. Reigns, who is a babyface, has not been receiving solid audience response and I believe that this reunion might be the solution for him.

However, this plan might backfire for WWE because most fans are well past the stage of Rollins and Ambrose helping Reigns to get a positive reaction from the crowd.
